God could still accomplish His purpose in Jacob's destiny—whether with Leah or with Rachel. God will do what He has purposed to do. But Jacob's decision to serve another seven years was not the counsel of God; it was bondage. It was a self-inflicted servitude.

Had Jacob committed his ways to the Lord and denied the flesh, the Spirit of God—who reveals all things, knows all things, and sees all things—would have warned him of Laban's scheme before Leah was ever brought to his tent. He could have avoided that marriage altogether and waited for Rachel.

 

Why? Because God does not lead us into captivity. He is the God of liberty!

Let us not forget: Satan always rushes ahead. He seeks to lure individuals into his own agenda—one that is always marked by servitude, carries a dreadful price, and results in the waste of destiny-defining time.
